Ms. Allen's use of conversations through email and instant messaging in the story is totally realistic. The development of the main character Phil was extremely well done. It takes the reader from looking at the life of a recluse, to the life of an open and lovable person. When forced to meet face-to-face with a customer, the character Phil discovers a whole new world.
The story was totally believable, because technology has opened up the door to telecommunication. The more people start to depend on email and other sources of online communication, the more isolated we will become. Rida Allen's story is an excellent example of this situation.
